RETURN POLICY, EXCHANGES & REFUND CONDITIONS

LAST UPDATED: 2026-08-04

At SHIDO ATELIER, we want you to be fully satisfied with your purchase. If for any reason you are not, the following policy outlines your rights and the procedure for returning products, obtaining refunds, or requesting exchanges. This policy is provided in compliance with the French Consumer Code (Code de la consommation) and applies to all purchases made through our online store.

1. RIGHT OF WITHDRAWAL — 14-DAY COOLING OFF PERIOD

In accordance with Article L221-18 of the French Consumer Code, you have the right to withdraw from your purchase within fourteen (14) calendar days without giving any reason.

The withdrawal period begins on the day you, or a third party designated by you (other than the carrier), takes physical possession of the goods. If you have ordered multiple goods in one order that are delivered separately, the withdrawal period begins on the day you take possession of the last good.

1.1 How to Exercise Your Right

To exercise your right of withdrawal, you must inform us of your decision to withdraw by sending a clear and unambiguous statement. You may do so by:

  • Sending an email to: support@shidoatelier.com
  • Using the model withdrawal form provided in our Terms of Sale (Section 5.3)

To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired. Please include your order number and contact details in all correspondence.

1.2 Effects of Withdrawal

If you withdraw from this contract, we will reimburse all payments received from you, including the costs of standard delivery (but excluding the supplementary costs arising from your choice of a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us), without undue delay and in any event not later than fourteen (14) days from the day on which we are informed about your decision to withdraw from this contract.

We will carry out such reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.

2. RETURN CONDITIONS

2.1 Condition of Returned Goods

You are required to return the goods to us without undue delay and in any event not later than fourteen (14) days after the day on which you communicate your decision to withdraw. The deadline is met if you send back the goods before the 14-day period has expired.

Returned items must meet the following conditions:

  • Items must be unused, unworn, and unwashed;
  • Items must be in their original condition, free from odours, stains, or signs of wear;
  • All original tags and labels must remain attached;
  • Items must be returned in their original packaging where applicable;
  • All accessories, documentation, and supplementary materials must be included;
  • Items must be securely packaged to prevent damage during transit.

2.2 Right to Inspect

The Customer has the right to open and inspect the product to determine its nature, characteristics, and functioning, in the same way as would be possible in a physical shop. However, the Customer’s liability is engaged if the product is handled beyond what is necessary to establish its nature, characteristics, and functioning. In such cases, the Seller reserves the right to deduct from the refund an amount corresponding to the depreciation in value of the goods resulting from handling beyond what is permitted.

3. RETURN SHIPPING

In accordance with Article L221-23 of the French Consumer Code, the direct cost of returning the goods shall be borne by the Customer, unless the Seller has agreed to bear these costs or has failed to inform the Customer that they are to bear these costs.

SHIDO ATELIER does not provide prepaid return labels at this time. The Customer is responsible for arranging and paying for the return shipment using a tracked and insured shipping method.

We strongly recommend the following when returning items:

  • Use a tracked shipping service with proof of delivery;
  • Insure the shipment for the full value of the returned goods;
  • Retain your proof of postage and tracking number until the return is processed;
  • Ship returns to the address provided in your return confirmation email.

The Seller shall not be held liable for returns lost or damaged in transit. If a return is lost during shipment and the Customer cannot provide valid proof of dispatch, the Seller may be unable to process the refund.

4. REFUND TIMELINE

In accordance with Article L221-24 of the French Consumer Code, we will process your refund within fourteen (14) days of the date on which we receive the returned goods, or within fourteen (14) days of the date on which you provide proof of having returned the goods, whichever is earlier.

We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back, or until you have supplied evidence of having returned them, whichever is earlier.

Refunds will be issued using the same payment method used for the original purchase. The time taken for the refund to appear in the Customer’s account may vary depending on the payment provider, typically between three (3) and ten (10) business days after processing. If a different refund method is required, it will only be processed with the Customer’s express agreement and will not incur any additional fees.

Original shipping costs (standard delivery) will be included in the refund. However, if the Customer selected an expedited or premium shipping method, only the cost of standard delivery will be refunded, in accordance with Article L221-24 of the French Consumer Code.

5. EXCHANGE PROCESS

If you wish to exchange an item for a different size or colour, please follow these steps:

  • Contact us at support@shidoatelier.com within fourteen (14) days of receiving your order to request an exchange;
  • Include your order number and the item(s) you wish to exchange;
  • Specify the desired replacement item (size, colour, or product reference);
  • Return the original item(s) following the return conditions described in Section 2 above;
  • Once we receive and inspect the returned item(s), we will ship the replacement item(s) subject to availability.

If the replacement item is of greater value than the original, the Customer will be required to pay the difference. If the replacement item is of lesser value, the difference will be refunded in accordance with the refund timeline set out in Section 4. If the requested replacement is unavailable, a full refund will be offered instead.

Exchange shipping costs for the outgoing replacement item are borne by the Seller. Return shipping costs for the original item remain the responsibility of the Customer as outlined in Section 3.

6. NON-RETURNABLE ITEMS

In accordance with Article L221-28 of the French Consumer Code, certain items cannot be returned or exchanged. The following categories of goods are excluded from the right of withdrawal:

  • Personalised or custom-made items: Products that have been made to the Customer’s specifications, including custom sizing, monogramming, bespoke alterations, or items produced on the basis of a specific design request;
  • Worn or used items: Products that show signs of wear, washing, alteration, or damage beyond what is necessary to establish their nature and characteristics;
  • Hygiene-sensitive items: Products that have been unsealed and are not suitable for return due to health or hygiene protection reasons (e.g. certain accessories worn directly against the skin);
  • Items inseparably mixed: Goods which, after delivery, have been inseparably mixed with other items;
  • Sealed audio or video recordings: Sealed goods which have been unsealed after delivery and are not suitable for return due to health or hygiene reasons.

If you are unsure whether an item qualifies for return, please contact us at support@shidoatelier.com before shipping your return. Items that do not meet the return conditions will be sent back to the Customer at the Customer’s expense.

7. DAMAGED OR DEFECTIVE ITEMS

7.1 Reporting Damaged or Defective Goods

If you receive an item that is damaged, defective, or does not match the description provided on the website, please contact us immediately at support@shidoatelier.com and include the following information:

  • Your order number;
  • A description of the issue (damage, defect, or discrepancy);
  • Clear photographs showing the damage or defect;
  • Photographs of the packaging (if damaged during transit).

7.2 Conformity Warranty

In accordance with Articles L.217-4 to L.217-14 of the French Consumer Code, the Seller is liable for any lack of conformity existing at the time the goods are delivered. The Customer may obtain either a repair or replacement of the non-conforming goods, or a proportional reduction in the price or rescission of the contract, in accordance with the conditions set out in Article L.217-12 of the French Consumer Code.

The legal conformity warranty period is two (2) years from the delivery of the goods. The Customer must inform the Seller of the lack of conformity within two (2) years of delivery. When the Customer acts within six (6) months of delivery, the lack of conformity is presumed to have existed at the time of delivery, unless proven otherwise.

7.3 Resolution for Damaged / Defective Items

Upon receipt and verification of your report, we will offer one of the following resolutions:

  • A full refund, including original shipping costs;
  • A replacement item of the same product, subject to availability;
  • Store credit for the value of the item;
  • A repair of the defective item, where applicable.

For damaged or defective items, return shipping costs will be borne by the Seller. A prepaid return label or reimbursement of reasonable return shipping costs will be provided upon validation of the claim. Please do not return damaged or defective items before receiving confirmation and instructions from our team.

Important: Damage must be reported within forty-eight (48) hours of receipt for transit-related damage. After this period, it may not be possible to file a claim with the carrier. Manufacturing defects may be reported within the two-year legal warranty period as described above.

For any questions regarding returns, please email support@shidoatelier.com or visit our Contact page.
